Quantitative Ecologist for Software Development

Position: Software Developer with Scientific Background

Key Responsibilities and Required Skills:

  • Software Development: Create and maintain applications using R/Shiny, Python, JavaScript, AWS, and various databases.
  • Ecological Modeling: Conduct and support ecological modeling to inform conservation efforts.
  • Geospatial Data Processing: Process and analyze geospatial data to support project objectives.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Stay abreast of the latest technologies and apply them to our projects.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

  • Statistical Modeling Expertise: In-depth knowledge of statistical modeling methods.
  • Data Engineering: Experience in developing data processing pipelines.
  • Taxonomic Expertise: Utilize your understanding of species and their habitats in project work.

Ideal Background:

  • Geographer, Ecologist, Landscape Ecologist, Remote Sensing Specialist or System Scientist
  • Note: Work experience in the private sector is not required. Being a frustrated PostDoc or a recent graduate could be a good starting point.
